Let’s back up a bit and look up some co-op games for the Master System. First we decided to take a look at Time Soldiers, a run and gun game similar to Ikari Warriors and Shock Troopers. The Master System was not exactly famous for good cover art, in fact it was quite the opposite. Time Soldiers though has an illin’ cover art which definitely played a part in me buying the game and our decision to make Time Soldiers our first Master System Co-op venture! It can’t be much worse than Ikari Warriors! Can it?

Ninja Gaiden (Ryūkenden) (1992 PC Engine) vs. The NES Version
Hey ho! Did you know that the PC Engine had some pretty good NES ports? I have already mentioned the Double Dragon II port, the Nintendo World Cup port and the River City Ransom port briefly in the Top 10 Turbografx16/PC Engine co-op games list but there is more! Ninja Gaiden also got ported and it caught my attention for its updated graphics and more balanced difficulty. I have never been a big Ninja Gaiden fan and always felt the game was difficult in an unfair way so this prompted me to go play both games and provide the world with what can be expected of the PC Engine port vs. the NES original.
This article will assume that you know the basic premise of Ninja Gaiden.

Dynamite Dux (1989 Sega Master System)
Hello and welcome to another review! This time we take on Dynamite Dux! Why? Well, I am a big fan of the Happy Console Gamer and his YouTube channel and it has become pretty infamous that he really hates this game. As a child he wanted to spend his 90 hard earned Canadian Dollars on something special, something he could immerse in and fall in love with. I think it is safe to say that he didn’t get what he wanted. I love listening to that just as much as any of you but I still felt I had to check out what the fuzz is about. I played Dynamite Dux and I found it to be OK… An OK game with much more potential than the final product actually shows. Continue reading Dynamite Dux (1989 Sega Master System)
Ys: Memories of Celceta (PS Vita/PC 2013) Comparing the Remake to the Original
After I acquired my PC Engine in 2012 I became a huge Ys fan. The series has some amazing titles on the PC Engine that made me want to go out there for more. Memories of Celceta is the newest game in the series and it was released on the PS Vita in 2013 and on PC in China a little later. Memories of Celceta is a remake of Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys for the PC Engine and they changed the game quite a bit. There is also a Ys IV for the SNES but I have never played it. Memories of Celceta supersedes those games and is now the canon of the series. I loved Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys so naturally I had to check this one out!
Instead of reviewing the basics of the game I will talk about it in relation to the PC Engine game, how it was changed and if the remake is worth playing. This is a new game so many reviews like that exist already so just google that if you are interested.

Top 10 SNES Games
It´s been a long time coming but we are finally here with a Top 10 SNES Games list for Cousin Gaming. I have always felt that we cannot make this list properly because we haven’t played ALL the games for the system yet, but in the end I think we have played MOST of the games considered to be good on the SNES so if we happen to find a title that we really like we will just update the list.
In the meanwhile enjoy the list as it is!

Shock Troopers (Neo Geo MVS/WiiVC 1997)
Next up in our Neo Geo reviews is Shock Troopers! Shock Troopers was released in 1997 on the MVS but never on the AES or Neo Geo CD systems which is a shame. We played it on the WiiVC which should be accurate to the MVS version. The game was also released with an online feature on Steam but i’ve heard that the port is a bad, choppy emulation.
Shock Troopers is a 2-player co-op run and gun game thatkinda makes you think “what if Ikari Warriors was actually a good game?”. Yes, you have the overhead view and can walk/shoot in 8 directions.
Now lets gun down some bad guys!
