Shovel Knight was a breath of fresh air to a video game environment deprived of great retroesque experiences. We had seen some releases like Mega Man 9, other indies and fun handheld games but nothing felt as fresh and innovative as Shovel Knight. I am going to give you my thoughts on the Wii U version of Shovel Knight but the main purpose of this article is to review the new Amiibo unlocked co-op function and see if it is the real deal or a bust!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES 1990)
Heroes in a half shell, turtle power! Yes, it’s the freaking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in one of their earlier video game appearance. This is the 2 player game Turtles 2 for the NES, not to be mistaken with it’s single player challenged frustrating brother Turtles 1 which is… Let’s just say a lot of people are not thrilled about that game.
This one on the other hand is a 2 player co-op beat ’em up action packed fun I have played a lot both as a kid and as an adult. So prepare to have me recommend this game for you.

Duck Tales (NES 1989) + Duck Tales: Remastered Review
Duck Tales! WooOoohoo! A video game by Capcom featuring probably my all time favorite Disney character, gazillionaire Scrooge McDuck. Licensed games tend to be bad but I played Duck Tales a lot as a kid and liked it a lot so I played it again along with the new remastered version on the Wii U. Let’s see if the old one holds up and if the new one does it justice!

Top 5 Classic Castlevania
So it has come to this… We have gone through the main classic Castlevania games which only means that we have to rank them from best to worst. Check it out and see if you agree! Or flame us if you don’t 🙂
To qualify for this list the game has to be a pre-Symphony of the Night Castlevania game, or in other words not a “metroidvania” game.
Castlevania: The New Generation/Bloodlines (Sega MD/Genesis 1994)
Sega finally gets some of that Castlevania action! This time set in the 1st world war. Two vampire hunters face the resurrection of Dracula in the absence of the Belmonts. John Morris who is the successor of the Vampire Killer whip of the Belmont clan and Eric Lecarde who wields the Alucard spear join hands in Castlevania’s first shot at a Sega console. Let’s see how they did!

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (Turbografx/PC Engine 1993)
This rare gem is the Castlevania made for the “PC Engine” console in Japan. The reason it is so uncommon is because it was released only in Japan and only for the PC Engine CD add-on which was expensive and not as popular as the SNES in Japan. A copy in good condition is being sold from around 160$, 110GDP or 150EUR. The PC Engine CD itself will then cost you about 350$.
You can burn that cash, or just buy it on the PSP/Wii virtual console 🙂
UPDATE: The game is available as a part of the Castlevania: Requiem on PS4 but beware of the input lag! It is not game breaking but certainly is noticeable. And the Wii VC is of course closed so only modded Wii’s can play it
